BISD Severe Cognitive Impairment Program
CI Classrooms/BISD West Learning Center
Housed in the West Learning Center, the CI classroom offers students with severe and moderate cognitive learning impairments a stimulating learning environment.
Instruction and experiences expose the students to learning in the areas of fine motor/sensory learning, pre-academics, self-help and responsible behavior. We use the multiple intelligences approach,
differentiating and accommodating instruction for each student. With our close proximity to the Young Adult Program Workshop, we are able to introduce the older students to pre-vocational skills.
We regularly attend assemblies with local elementary schools and interact with the community through fieldtrips and recess at Tangletown in Bob King Park.
