Learning to Give - The Council of Michigan Foundations and a Steering Committee of thirteen collaborating leaders in education, volunteerism, and nonprofit leadership have begun a unique effort to write, field test, implement and disseminate high quality K-12 curriculum lessons, units and materials on philanthropy.

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics-Illuminations - Computer generated math lessons at every grade level allowing students to work at their optimum instructional level.
Distinguished Women Past and Present - Biographies of women writers, educators, scientists, heads of state, politicians, civil rights crusaders, artists, entertainers and others are featured at this site.
Teaching with Energy - This site helps kids explore the link between solid waste and energy, the history of garbage, how landfills work and related topics. Curriculum guides, science fair project ideas and an energy conservation chart are available.
Science Education - Have students choose from 16 activities to answer questions such as: How do scientists measure the size of an atom? What kind of coat will keep you the warmest--one made from cotton, steel wool, or air? Flash cards, matching games and crossword puzzles help students learn the periodic table of elements.
Math and Science Teaching and Learning - Provides effective resources for K-12 math and science teaching and learning. Includes ready-to-go activities and other suggested curriculum materials.
National Wildlife Federation - This site can help anyone become an expert on the bird species of various regions of the United States. Maps to track migration patterns are available.

Midwest Talent Search - To qualify for MTS, 7th & 8th grade students must score at the 95th (97th-6th grade) percentile or above on a nationally normed, standardized achievement test. Application materials are due to MTS by the end of October each year. SAT testing takes place in January and ACT testing takes place in February.
GT World - an online support community for
parents of gifted children.
Discovering Your Dreams - The "Discovering Your Dreams" web site provides highly motivated and talented children, their families and educators with information about unique day, residential summer and year-round opportunities. The programs described cover a wide range of disciplines and grade levels. Brochures and registration forms are available from the person or institution listed under "Contact" in each program description. In most cases you will need to contact them for full details about their programs.
